The Employment & Transition Team at Mt. Carmel has a collective goal of assisting Veterans and their Family Members gain meaningful employment. Based on your specific situation, you will get one-on-one assistance by someone that has been in a situation very similar to yours, but you will have the support of an entire team. Our team assists with resume development, interviewing techniques, networking, and job leads. We host job fairs, networking events, workshops, and mock interview events on a regular basis to assist you and your family.

Peer Navigator – Veterans Integration Program




The nationally recognized Veterans Integration Program (VIP) at Mt. Carmel specializes in providing services to transitioning Military members through an intensive focus on employment via training and education resources. Additionally, this program aims to introduce the Military members to community groups, workshops, and networking opportunities. The program is FREE to all those separating from any status or component of the military. The Peer Navigator is a Veteran with a deep understanding of the military culture who is able to establish a personal, individualized connection and act as a guide through essential resources.

Eligibility: Any transitioning service member, 1-year prior, or up to 2-years from the date of separation.

Call of Duty Endowment SEAL OF DISTINCTION

Call of Duty Endowment Seal of Distinction

In 2015, Mt. Carmel Veterans Service Center was awarded the Call of Duty Endowment’s prestigious Seal of Distinction Award. This award is the preeminent standard of excellence in the veteran’s employment sector. This is a national award that went to only three organizations in 2015. The process to receive this award is rigorous, culminating in a 3-day on-site audit by a respected national accounting firm:

Creating Your Best Resume

The stronger your resume is the better your chances are for getting the right job with the right team. This two-hour workshop takes your existing resume to the next level.  This workshop is taught by a professional resume writer and limited to 20 participants. Conducted as part of the Mt. Carmel MilSpouse Career Program.

What Do You Want to Do Now that You’re Grown Up?  

If you feel like you aren’t sure what to do professionally or you need to change up your current trajectory, this workshop is for you. Construct and examine your own career timeline and complete the Career Personality Inventory (CPI) ® to identify your potential career interests. You will also learn how to research potential career directions using the O*Net and other tools. Conducted as part of the Mt. Carmel MilSpouse Career Program.

How to Survive (and Thrive) at a Job Fair 

Job fairs are right around the corner …are you prepared? This workshop will offer effective strategies to help you make the most of your time at any job fair. You will learn what to do before, during and after the big event. Conducted as part of the Mt. Carmel MilSpouse Career Program.

Veterans Service to Career Pilot Program

The Veterans Service to Career Pilot Program is a state grant, funded under House Bill 16-1267, and administered in partnership with the Pikes Peak Workforce Center. Funding from this grant is used to offer a more intensive set of tools, seminars, and group activities that have been proven effective in finding gainful employment. This grant focuses in five areas: PrepConnect 360 (5-day workshop focused on enhanced career transition and education), internships, job coaching, training and supportive services.

Veterans who –

  • Served on active duty for a period of more than 180 days and were discharged or released with other than a dishonorable discharge
  • Were discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability
  • Are a member of a reserve component under an order to active duty, served on active duty during a period of war or in a campaign or expedition for which a campaign badge is authorized and was discharged or released from such duty with other than a dishonorable discharge.
  • Not currently on active duty

Dependent family members –

  • Current or former spouse who is currently eligible for Veteran’s benefits such as healthcare, retirement and access to military facilities
  • A Veteran’s dependent child who is 26 years of age or younger and lives in the home of the Veteran, or
  • A Veteran’s caregiver who is 18 years of age or older and has significant responsibility for managing the well-being of an injured Veteran who has been determined unemployable by the Veterans’ Administration.

Pikes Peak Workforce Center –

Hire a Veteran
If you have employment opportunities and are looking for Veterans to hire let us help you find those individuals. We work with veterans and their family members seeking jobs every day. If we know of specific employment opportunities in the community, we can send the best candidates your way!

Each month, Mt. Carmel hosts Networking and Mock Interview events to teach transitioning service members these vital job seeking skills. We always bring in community employers to assist us, and their coaching and mentorship is invaluable! We would love to have you on our team!

Spread the Word
Guide Veterans and their families to Mt. Carmel so we can provide additional support and help. Remember, we do more than just employment at Mt. Carmel, if you know a veteran who needs any type of support, please send them our way so we can get them the best resources possible!

Join our Internship Program
Critical to the Veteran population and to their Spouses is the opportunity to gain relevant civilian workforce experience. Veterans often have little concept of what working in an office or a particular industry environment would be like. There also can be hesitation on the part of employers to hire and train a transitioning service member given their lack of civilian experience. Equally challenging is the ability for the Spouse of a Veteran to enter the workforce with the gaps in employment history and potentially lost work experience due to frequent moves and managing the family dynamic during their Spouse’s deployments.

In both cases, having the opportunity to earn experience through internships at reputable organizations that potentially have permanent positions available at the conclusion of the assignment represents the perfect entrée into civilian employment. Even if the hiring organization is unable to offer the intern permanent employment, the experience will provide the Veteran or eligible family member with valuable experience to contribute to a stronger resume and afford them greater job prospects in the future.

We are currently seeking employers who would be willing to participate in this great program by hiring veterans and eligible family members through this wonderful internship program.

Industry Specific Job Fairs
Mt. Carmel hosts industry specific job fair with 10-30 employers per event.  With an industry specific job fair, anyone that walks through the door is a possible candidate for your organization.


“Civvies” is a unique boutique in the Atrium of Mt. Carmel that provides our guests with affordable professional and business attire before they interview, begin a new job or if they want to enhance their professional wardrobe. With our successful Veteran and Family employment programs, we have observed that the expense of a new professional wardrobe can be daunting. Mt. Carmel wants to ease that burden for our Clients and give them the opportunity to begin their new job with confidence. Thank you to our Discover Goodwill partners for helping us make this wonderful clothing option available to you. Monetary donations are suggested

Mt. Carmel cannot accept clothing donations; however, donations can be dropped off and processed through any Goodwill donation center.
