About Veterans Voice
Working to improve the lives of military, veterans and their families, our hosts present transition, employment, housing, financial, food, health, wellness, and recreational resources available to all members of the military-connected community. Veterans Voice airs Sunday mornings at 7:30 on flagship station KRDO Newsradio, 105.56 FM, 1240 AM and 92.5 FM.
The Veterans Voice New Host: Paul Watson
Paul Watson is the new host for Mt. Carmel’s Veterans Voice. A military veteran himself, Paul was born in Omaha, Nebraska, and enlisted in the Army as a 74D, or chemical specialist in the Nebraska National Guard. He deployed for a year to Afghanistan and switched to the Colorado National Guard and trained in Special Forces. He graduated from the SF qualifying course as a weapons noncommissioned officer and completed the warrant officer basic course.
He continues to serve the nation’s Green Berets as chief of staff for the Special Forces Foundation in Colorado Springs. He served 22 years in the military, 10 of those years were with 10th Special Forces Group here at Ft Carson retiring as a Chief Warrant Officer 2.
He’s deployed to Afghanistan three times, to Kuwait once and to Estonia once. His awards include two Bronze Star medals, the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, and the Army Good Conduct Medal. He has received the National Defense Service Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign medal, and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, in addition to the Armed Forces Service Medal, Non-Commissioned Officers Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon and NATO medal. He has Airborne and Parachutist badges and the Special Forces tab.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in strategic studies and defense analysis from Norwich University.
Paul joined Mt. Carmel’s Veteran Voice because he discovered working with active duty military members and veterans gives him purpose.
“Mt. Carmel Veterans Services has now given me the opportunity to extend my reach to all of the branches, instead of just Special Forces,” he said. “This is my first experience as a podcaster … and I’m settling right in.”
